About BERT
BERT (Best Energy Reduction Technologies) helps organizations find and stop the energy their buildings waste when no one is using it. We’re based in Wayne, PA, just outside Philadelphia.
Building automation systems do a good job with HVAC and lighting, the loads everyone can see. What they usually miss is everything still plugged in after the building empties out: copiers, displays, water coolers, vending machines, classroom technology, exhaust fans and window units.
These plug and process loads are about a third of a typical commercial building’s electricity (NREL, 2013), and in most buildings no one controls them. BERT was built to close that gap without asking anyone to learn a new system or change how they work.

Not another system to learn, not another behavior to change. BERT uses your existing network to manage plug loads quietly in the background, so your team can stay focused on everything else.
What We Do
Commercial-grade controllers meter each device, so you can see what’s running and when.
Central schedules turn equipment off when spaces are empty. Each controller stores its own schedule, so control continues if Wi-Fi or the internet drops, and local override is always available.
After installation, BERT measures a baseline, uses it to recommend schedules, then reports actual savings against it in BERTBrain.
BERT works on its own or alongside your building automation system through BERT Connect (BACnet/IP) or BERT Rest.

How We Work
ESCOs, reps and resellers, engineers and specifiers, contractors and utility programs bring BERT to their customers.
Savings are estimated up front, then measured after installation. How we calculate savings →
Our software team is U.S.-based, BERTBrain is hosted in the U.S., and phone and email technical support are included. Support →
Who We Serve
K-12 and higher education, commercial offices, state and local government, libraries and community centers, outpatient and medical offices, and venues.
